The Lakers have had many great players in their history, being one of, if not the best franchises in NBA history. Now retired seven-time NBA champion and former Lakers player power forward Robert Horry was a recent guest on Byron Scott's new podcast, Off The Dribble With Byron Scott. During the appearance on the podcast, Horry recalled a story of a tryout with the Lakers.
Horry was a Second-Team All-SEC honoree and an SEC All-Defensive Team selection. There was no doubt he was going to be a first round pick, it was just a matter of when he would be selected. The Lakers had the No. 15 pick in the draft. According to Horry, the Purple and Gold team had him tryout for them.

Patrick Beverley’s weakness that can affect the Lakers
“I got here to LA, [the Lakers] said, 'Oh we're going to make you play one-on-one with someone.' I think it's another guy who they're looking at. And out walks Magic... and I don't think the dude ever jumped over two inches, and [he] wore my a** out,” explained the seven-time NBA champion.
The 6'10" forward was eventually selected by the Houston Rockets with the 11th pick in the 1992 draft. The Lakers would go on to select Anthony Peeler, who never played up to a first round potential. The Lakers would trade for Horry in 1997, helping them to win the Three-peat.
Robert Horry is one of the players with the most championships won in NBA history. He ended up winning seven titles. He won back-to-back titles with the Rockets. Then he went to win a three-peat against the Lakers. Finally, he won two more titles with the Spurs.
