It's not news that the Lakers are trying to find a trade for Russell Westbrook. The Lakers still need to make a move or two so that they can compete for a place in the playoffs in the upcoming season. So far Westbrook has been offered to no less than five teams but there have been no answers back. Now it seems that the Lakers are making one last offer.
According to reports from NBA insider Jeff Zillgitt, the Lakers might be trying to trade the former MVP alongside one first-round pick, to the Utah Jazz in exchange for the 34-year-old veteran Mike Conley. this might not be what the Lakers would've wanted but at least they would move on from Westbrook.
The reason why Jeanie Buss needed a change in the Lakers
The trade request that the Los Angeles Lakers wanted to hear
The veteran just earned his first selection to tan all-star game last year, so at least the Lakers would be getting an ‘ascending’ player in exchange for Russell Westbrook who appears to be going downwards, at least after what we saw last season.
Throughout his career, Mike Conley has He has averaged 14.8 points, 5.6 assists, and 3.0 rebounds, which right now, is less than what Westbrook offered last season. But Conley has shown that he is a good shooter and playmaker. The most important part of his game is that he would be a No.3 on the team.
As days pass by, it looks less likely that the Lakers are going to trade Russell Westbrook. After some good comments by Jeanie Buss, Darvin Ham, and LeBron James, it seems that the former MVP might play another season or half a season with the Lakers.
