The Lakers were one of the worst teams in the NBA last season. The team ended with a mediocre record of 33 wins and 49 losses. This was a result of LeBron James and Anthony Davis missing a bunch of games throughout the season. The supporting cast wasn't elite either as Russell Westbrook register one of his worst seasons ever. All this would make us think that the Lakers would try to upgrade the team.

So far the Lakers have let go a couple of veterans and replaced them with young talents like Lonnie Walker IV and Juan Toscano-Anderson. Their biggest move so far is trading for an all-NBA defensive player in Patrick Beverley. However,  an NBA executive still believes the Lakers have had the worst offseason in the NBA.

The Lakers have spoken to five teams about a possible trade

The reason why Jeanie Buss needed a change in the Lakers

“I think [the Lakers are] trying to prove to themselves and other teams that they don’t have to do something, I think Westbrook is not quite as broken as everyone sees. If he gets put on a bad team, he’ll make a bad team decent. You put him on, Indiana? He’d affect winning,” argued one of the scouts polled for this list.

Despite the vote on the Lakers had the worst offseason, the other fourteen coaches, scouts, and executives polled in this article voted for other teams. The Dallas Mavericks topped the list with six votes, followed by the Hornets with three and the Brooklyn Nets with two.

Lakers next move

The Lakers still need to add a couple of players if they want to compete for the championship. So far they are the sixth or seventh best team in the West. They still might move off from Russell Westbrook.
