Carmelo Anthony was a very good player for the Lakers last season. He wasn't the all-star player that he was during his prime, but he still helped the team not end with a worse record. The Lakers brought Melo to be a role player, but the injuries to LeBron James and Anthony Davis made him have a bigger role for the team.

Despite having a nice season with the Lakers last year, averaging 13.3 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 1.0 assists in 69 games, he now is an unrestricted free agent. Rumors have linked Melo to the Lakers once again, but now new reports link him to the biggest rival in the Boston Celtics.

The worst case scenario for LeBron James and the Lakers

"Carmelo Anthony has been considered a potential signee by the Boston Celtics in recent days following Danilo Gallinari's suffered torn meniscus in his left knee on Saturday, I'm told. Knicks are still believed to have interest in the former Laker, Thunder, Blazer, Rocket," explained Brandon Robinson.

If Melo signs with the Celtic this could be one big betrayal. Despite not being right now with the Lakers, that was his last team. There have been other top players that have played for both teams before. Rick Fox, Don Nelson, Charlie Scott, Bob McAdoo, Shaquille O'Neal, and Gary Payton are among the top players to play for both teams.

Carmelo Anthony's value

Carmelo Anthony was a very serviceable player for the Lakers last year. That's why some reports linked him back with the Purple and Gold. He is still a great shooter and was the best-rated defender for the lakers with 114.
