The Los Angeles Lakers decided to part ways with head coach Frank Vogel right after the end of the season. Vogel had coached the Lakers since 2019, but last season's failure was the limit for the front office as they replaced him with Milwaukee Bucks' assistant coach Darvin Ham. However, according to seven-time champion, and former Lakers player, Robert Horry, he was offered the position a year ago, but opted not to take it.

It seems that the only way Vogel could keep his job was if he led the team to a deep playoff run. However, as we all know, that didn't happen, but they missed the playoffs altogether. That was the second time the team missed the playoffs, since the coach joined the team. Two seasons ago, they did get to the playoffs but got eliminated in the first round. The other season was, of course, the 2020 campaign, where they won the championship.

The big player that the Los Angeles Lakers should push for

According to the former Lakers player, he could've gotten the job a year ago, but decided not to, as it involves too much time. “I've always had that passion. Even last season, the Lakers brought me in to interview about being a coach, and it's hard because you want to do it, you have the passion to do it, but it takes a lot of time, man, and I don't have that much grey (hair) yet!”, Explained the former power forward.

Of course, there's nothing to suggest that he would've made an impact, as he doesn't have previous experience of coaching. Still, as a 7-time champion, he might know some trick or two. He also argued that he had an interest in coaching but not so much in traveling. "I have the passion to do it. I want to do it but I'm at that point that can I coach and not travel? If I can do that, then I can do that." concluded the former player.

Darvin Ham ‘revenge’ game

The Los Angeles Lakers will be facing the Milwaukee Bucks on December 2nd. This game is not only interesting because of the matchup between LeBron James and Giannis Antetokounmpo. But also because it will mark Darvin Ham's return to Milwaukee. The Lakers head coach was an assistant to Mike Budenholzer, first in Atlanta, and then in Milwaukee, where they ended up winning a Championship two seasons ago.
