Anthony Davis right now is the second best player on the Los Angeles Lakers, just behind LeBron James. However, we are all expecting that he could be the same player that he was when the team reached the championship in the 2020 season. We know that he can be a great player when healthy, but that's the issue about him no longer being healthy.

Now, new head coach Darvin Ham, is expecting to have his best player on the court so that they can reach the playoffs. There was a report that said that both LeBron James and Darvin Ham were hoping that the offense would run through Davis. But this is what the new coach is expecting from his player.

“Just to be healthy. Because at the end of the day, it all starts and ends there with him”, explained Ham. "His skill set is undeniable. And when he is healthy like he was in 2020 in the bubble run, he is in the top 5 in the league, easy, top 3. I just told him ‘take care of your body’, concluded Ham in an interview on the podcast Showtime.

Davis only played in 40 games last season and this is one of the reasons why the team only won 33 games and missed the playoffs. If they want to compete for the championship, they need their best players to be on the court for at least 60 games each.

Anthony Davis' productivity

Davis averaged 23.2 points, 9.9 rebounds and 3.1 assists in 40 games last season. Despite missing a bunch of games, he still led the league in rebounds per game and blocks per game. He was also in the top 3 in points per game and minutes per game.
