By James Brown
Draymond Green is an NBA icon. The 4 time NBA champion and one-time defensive player of the year is always a topic of conversation, of course, because of his great level of play but also because of the controversial things he always says. He recently mentioned that Carmelo Anthony at his prime is better than Kevin Durant at his prime. But now the Golden state warriors player surprised us with his best five of all time.
In this top 5 stand out 2 players from the Los Angeles Lakers. LeBron James and Shaquille O'Neal are for Draymond Green 2 of the 5 best players in history. In addition to these two Green mentioned that the other 3 would be Michael Jordan, Tim Duncan, and his teammate Stephen Curry.
Showtime and 2000's Lakers would have an easy win against today’s LeBron Lakers
They've gone crazy. The Lakers want to risk their future for a player.
"Shaq at the 5, Steph at the 1," Green started. "I got LeBron James at 3, Timmy Duncan at the 4, and if you think I was gonna have anybody other than Michael Jordan as the 2, you gotta be out of your mind." Draymond also mentioned that Kobe Bryant was very close to being part of this top 5 but did not mention who he would have cut (but we know he would cut Michael Jordan).
We understand that Draymond Green is simply his personal opinion, but we don't ask where he leaves Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and Earvin "Magic" Johnson. Yes, we know about the talent and players like Tim Duncan and Stephen Curry, but what Magic and Kareem accomplished is simply another level. They both are 2 of the best NBA players of all time.
Throughout the history of the Lakers, there have been great players. The Lakers have probably had more superstars than any other team in the history of the sport. Kareem, Shaq, Kobe, Magic, and LeBron are just a few. On that list, perhaps a step below are players like Wilt Chamberlain and Jerry West.
