Anthony Davis have to improve in this category to help the team

Anthony Davis is the Lakers' second best player, but he still has to improve in this category to help the team compete for the title.

Right now, the Lakers are looking like a below-average team. They still have players like LeBron James and Anthony Davis on the roster but, aside from them, there's not a player that can lead the team if and when either of them gets injured. The front office is still trying to pull off a trade, but so far things are not looking good for the Purple and Gold.

A big part of the Lakers' problem is that Anthony Davis hasn't been healthy since their 2020 championship run. He will have to play at least 60 games if they want a chance at the playoffs. But according to Bleacher Report's Mo Dakhil, Davis not only has to be healthy, but he has to improve his shooting if they want a deep playoff run.

Two new trade targets for the Los Angeles Lakers after Kyrie Irving's failure

The Lakers are interested in signing a five-time All-star player

“Los Angeles is going to need a big shooting season from Davis to help space the floor. The lack of shooting was an issue for them last season. Driving lanes were clogged for LeBron James and the whole team.Davis connected on 49.6 percent of his mid-range shots and 38.3 from three. Since then, his numbers from the mid-range dropped to 35.8 percent and 22.9 percent from deep.” explained Dakhil.

These numbers are the worst for Davis in the past seven years. Davis put on some decent numbers last season, but his lack of play and his down in shooting might be the reason why many peoples don't consider this team as a contender in the upcoming season.

Can the Lakers trust Anthony Davis?

According to Yahoo Sports, LeBron James and Darvin Ham agreed that they want the offense to be run by Davis. But he has shown us that he is not reliable, as he undoubtedly will get injured at some point in the season, making the Lakers change strategies. If Davis can play for 60 games or more, the team might be competitive. If not, they will miss the playoffs again.
