Kobe Bryant was one of the best players in the Lakers' history. He helped the team to win five championships and be one of the most important and popular teams in the NBA throughout the 2000s. His tragic passing in 2020 is still affecting the Lakers nowadays.
Jeanie Buss explained how the passing of Kobe has affected her as she was really close to the all-star player. “It’s been really tough. With some high points and some of the lowest points that I have ever experienced,” she said.

“What I have learned through the adversity was when we faced the loss of Kobe and Gianna Bryant, the question was, ‘How are we going to play basketball?’ We come together and we grieve together. That’s what ‘Lakers Nation’ does. And that’s the power of sports in our society.” continued Buss for Scooby Axson of USA Today.
The team has gone through some of its worst moments after Kobe's passing. But they also managed to win the championship a couple of months after his death back in 2020. Now they are honoring the player every year on August 24th.
Kobe Bryant played 20 seasons, all of them for the Lakers. During his career, he averaged 25.0 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 4.7 assists. He was selected to play in 18 All-Star games. He won a regular season MVP and 5 NBA championships. He was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2020.
