Kobe Bryant will always be remembered as one of the greatest players in NBA history. He was a dominant player and an excellent person. But once he retired, we all thought that was going to be it for Kobe and basketball. But a few years after his retirement, he came back to basketball as a coach, leading his daughter in the 'Team Mamba'.
Ginna Bryant, also known as Gigi, was Bryant's 13-year-old daughter. She started to pick up her father's love of basketball when he was still playing for the Lakers. But it was after he retired that she really started to be obsessed with the sport. Bryant said during an episode of the “All the Smoke’’ podcast. “Now that she’s into basketball, it’s on every night. It’s on every night. I mean, every game. She asked me to get the league pass on her phone and everything. She watches everything.’’

Kobe started to coach the ‘Team Mamba’, on which he commented that they were starting to get better by the day. "They all started at the ground level, but they all loved playing so much it grew into what it is now. We’ll probably win a lot more if we micromanage how we play the game and call plays and sets, but we really just kind of sit back and let them process things and figure things out because we are playing for the long game of them being the best basketball players they can be.’’ said on ‘All the smoke’.
Gigi was on the path to success that would've probably ended in the WNBA. And who knows, maybe Kobe would've followed her all the way and ended up coaching the team where Gigi was. There's no denying Kobe's talent as a player, and we have seen on many occasions players move to coaching and have success. That could have been Kobe. Legend player Legend coach.
Joe De Vera, a guest coach of an opposing team to the Mambas, told a story of who Kobe was a coach. “He was positive. He didn’t yell at the ref. He might have questioned one of the calls, but he did it in a respectful way.”
