The Los Angeles Lakers signed Russell Westbrook Last year because they thought that he was going to help them to reach the finals once again. Needless to say, he wasn't their solution. Now the team has been trying to trade him away since the end of last season. Now, the Lakers will have to pay a costly price to trade him away.

The Lakers have tried to upgrade their roster during the offseason. But the only real effort they have shown is trying to trade Russell Westbrook. They offered Russ to trade him to the Brooklyn Nets in exchange for Kyrie Irving and to the Jazz in exchange for Donovan Mitchell, but neither of the two happened.

The Los Angeles Lakers could regret making another trade

“It will take at least one first-round pick to park Westbrook somewhere and a second first-round pick to bring back multiple rotation pieces, sources with knowledge of the situation not authorized to speak publicly said. Those prices could rise (possibly with pick swaps) or lower (bad contracts coming back to the Lakers) depending on variables,” explained Dan Woike of the Los Angeles Times

The Lakers haven't been so interested in sending either of their two first-round picks. They have also repeatedly said that the team is ready to roll with the roster that they have right now. This includes Russell Westbrook.

Russell Westbrook future

The Lakers have been desperately trying to trade Russell Westbrook, but as days pass by and there's no news about a trade, it seems that the Lakers might roll with him despite everything.
